Cryptid MTB Pedal

The Cryptid MTB Pedal was developed from the perceived need of grip from flat pedals but also providing the rider with protection from the aggressive pins in the event of the foot slipping off the pedal.

The project proposal stated:

“Aim is to design and produce a unique pedal that is considerably more robust and reliable than those currently on the market... The grip, which is mostly provided by pins, is also a main feature when considering a bike pedal. These pins however can inflict a lot of injury to the rider’s legs in the case of slipping off the pedal. I will also consider this aspect when designing a pedal, and help reduce the potential injury that can occur, while maintaining an acceptable level of grip.”

Through the use of clever design, quality components and materials, this stated aim was achieved.  The pedal uses a convex shape to maintain grip while helping to protect the rider’s leg from the full impact of the pins.  The DU bushings make the pedal reliable and robust whilst keeping it extremely thin.
